Wedding Photographer: Ravello, Amalfi Coast: John & Alison

Amy was the wedding photographer at Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy for John & Alison’s wedding.

The weekend of the 23rd / 24th September was a two-wedding-weekend for me. The first wedding was in beautiful Ravello, a place that I now feel I know like the back of my hand. This was a wedding that I was really looking forward to. It would be rude to mention ages but let’s just say that the gorgeous bride, Alison had waited rather a long time for this day to come.

Villa Fraulo, a wonderfully luxurious and exclusive resort, played host to the couple and their guests on this special day. The wedding itself took place at the Giardini della Principessa di Piemonte which has the most impressive view along to the Bay of Salerno and we found time to wonder around the very pretty little town of Ravello and visit Villa Rufolo. Take a look:

John got ready in Hotel Bonadies also in the centre of Ravello. The view from the balcony wasn’t too bad!

Isn’t this beautiful too? John & Alison were brilliant models and despite not looking forward to it, John kept telling me how much he was enjoying being photographed :-)

Wedding Photographer: Ravello, Amalfi Coast: Dean & Rebecca

Amy was the wedding photographer at Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy for Dean & Rebecca’s wedding.

From Lake Orta, we were back down to Ravello on the Amalfi Coast via home just for a few days – talk about travelling the length and breadth of Italy this summer!

We stayed in a hotel that we haven’t stayed in before in a village called Scala, very close to Ravello. In fact, Scala ‘overlooks’ Ravello giving a fabulous view of the beautiful town and a great opening shot for a wedding in Ravello!

Dean & Rebecca were married in the gardens next to Palazzo Sasso – Giardini della Principessa di Piemonte. The gardens are stunning with a magnificent view over the Bay of Salerno. After the ceremony, and an hour or two in the main piazza, we headed off to ‘da Salvatore’ restaurant. What a setting and the food was just to die for (as was the wine – I can vouch for both!)

Here’s a little taster:

I just love Ravello so much. I’m there again for a wedding in September and already, I can’t wait. Thanks to Dean and Rebecca and their lovely family and friends. Your gallery will be online VERY soon! Also, hello again to an old friend of mine, Charlie – it’s amazing who you bump into at weddings! Amy x

Wedding Photographer: Positano, Ravello & Amalfi: Yuji & Shino

Amy was the wedding photographer in Positano, Amalfi Coast, Italy for Yuji & Shino’s wedding.

I have photographed quite a few weddings in the past with 15 or so guests but just recently I have taken quite a few bookings for even smaller weddings – in some cases it will just be the Bride & Groom and sometimes just 2 or 3 guests. This was the first of my very small weddings. Bride, Groom, 4 guests and me for an 8-hour photo shoot around the stunning Amalfi coast.

Yuji, Shino and their 4 guests had travelled from Japan to marry in Positano. As Japanese tradition allows, they got ready together, travelled to church together and entered together. Santa Maria Assunta Church, the main church in Positano played host to their beautiful ceremony proving that you can go big on venue even with just a few guests. The ceremony felt incredibly personal and the setting was spectacular.

Off to Palazzo Murat next: a stunning hotel in central Positano. Aperativi were served in the lush courtyard and cake was cut and eaten with the left-overs being served to the other guests dining in the hotel’s courtyard (and to me too of course – like a bit of cake!)

We travelled the hour or so to Ravello, stopping off at Positano’s principle resort St. Pietro for photographs and, once in Ravello, walked the 10 minutes or so from the centre of town to one of my favourite spots on the planet, Villa Cimbrone. Afterwards, it was back to Positano but via Amalfi where the atmosphere was electric, a brass band was playing and the locals and tourists treated Yuji, Shino and their guests like celebrities.

A wonderful day and some wonderful memories to remember it by. A special mention to Rieko and her wonderful team of wedding planners who did an incredible job and translated for me! Thank you for being brilliant.

Yuji & Shino didn’t stop laughing all day long. Shino impressed me so much, she walked for miles in 30 degree heat in her heavy wedding dress and 5 inch heels – much tougher than us Brits I tell you!

Guests

No-one spoke English and I don’t know a word of Japanese. I worked using actions all day long and had a great translator. I tried to convey ‘look away from camera’ and got this – I love it!

I loved every single minute of the day. I didn’t want it to end! I could have carried on photographing Yuji, Shino and their 4 guests all evening. I would like to think that our paths will cross again someday. Thank you so much x

Wedding Photographer: Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy – Church of Santa Maria a Gradillo & Mamma Agata: Sam & Lea

Amy was the wedding photographer at the Church of Santa Maria a Gradillo & Mamma Agata’s in Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy for Sam & Lea’s Wedding.

Just 16 guests, a huge storm, awe-inspiring views, the beauty of Ravello, one very classy hotel and THE best food EVER. Here’s the story of the day for the wedding of Sam & Lea. What rain! It didn’t just rain, it poured down and it didn’t just last for a little while, it poured down all day long. Nevertheless, no spirits were dampened. An intimate occasion & the guests smiled all day long :-) How could they not? They were in Ravello! Not only that but they got to eat and drink at Mamma Agata’s. Honestly, I’m not just saying this – I have simply never eaten food quite like it (…and neither has Andy who came to pick me up and ended up having a feast!)

Am I going on a bit about the food? I haven’t finished. I am so lucky that I get to sample scrumptious, tasty wedding menus week-in week-out throughout Italy and the UK (Italy normally has the slight edge!) but at Sam & Lea’s wedding, they chose the fabulous reception venue of Mamma Agata’s ‘Hidden Treasure’ Cookery School. I can not find the words … Scrummy, yummy, sensational tasting food. It looked good but the taste was … well, I bought the cookbook before I left. Unfortunately, Sam & Lea’s wedding was one of the last that they will host at the Hidden Treasure, but don’t worry, you can enroll for one of their cookery schools – Pierce Brosnan did last year so why not! Otherwise, find their cookbook online and buy it. It would make a great Christmas present too!

Folks, you were such good fun. Thanks for not minding getting wet and thank you for allowing me to sample such amazing food and wine. Shannon, your wedding planner from The Amalfi Experience, was a joy to work with and did a fabulous job, adjusting your plans to allow for the weather brilliantly. I will be talking about your wedding at Mamma Agata’s for a long time to come. Full wedding to follow very shortly.

Wedding Photographer: Ravello Town Hall & Villa Cimbrone, Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy: Ian & Sam

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Ravello Town Hall & Villa Cimbrone, Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy for the wedding of Ian & Sam.

Since becoming wedding photographers years ago we have heard lots of great reviews about Villa Cimbrone in Ravello on the Amalfi Coast. We finally got the opportunity to photograph there for the wedding of Ian & Sam on the 28th August. Villa Cimbrone more than lived up to its incredible reputation – what a jaw-dropping place it is! The view from the terrace is reputed to be one of, if not THE best view in the whole of Italy and is certainly a sight that will stick with us for many years to come.

A wedding photographer’s dream, Ravello is perfect in every way – an elegant little town, high up in the hills with gorgeous, narrow streets and blooming with colourful flowers. I have to also mention the Infinito Suite at the 5 star Palazzo Sasso in which Sam and her bridesmaids got ready – Wow! I could have spent a week or two there with its stunning views and jacuzzi on the terrace. If only!

Ian’s vibrant waistcoat looked great. He fitted in perfectly in such a colourful little town.

The bridal party pose for the formal group shot. What a stunning back-drop. We don’t normally post examples of the formal images because I think many photographers hate doing them (as do many couples!) But, for many, they’re an essential part of a wedding – a historical record of the people their and what they wore etc. When you’re as organised as Ian & Sam were on their wedding day, these images can be taken pretty quickly and then everyone gets back to the party. Well worth the effort eh?
