Amy was the wedding photographer at Villa Catignano & Siena, Tuscany, Italy for Laird & Chauncey’s wedding.
For me, this was one of the stand-out weddings of my summer season. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all wonderful days and I love each and every wedding that I photograph but I absolutely loved the way that Laird & Chauncey arranged their wedding and the venue and styling were just to die for.
Villa Catignano is a wonderful place to marry. The orange villa with its flowers, gardens, lemon trees, terracotta pots, courtyard, views are like something from a fairytale. Laird and Chauncey both got ready at the villa and then travelled into Siena with a small group of their closest friends and family for their legal ceremony in Siena Town Hall. They enjoyed a celebratory drink at a bar in Siena’s main piazza, some photographs in the square before we headed back to the Villa for a symbolic ceremony with all of the guests in the beautiful gardens.
Aperitivi followed and the most wonderful dinner on a beautifully-laid single, long table. If I were to marry again (sorry Andy!) then I think that what Laird and Chauncey arranged was just perfect. Take a look:
The view from the Bridal Suite at Villa Catignano. That’s Siena in the distance.
Laird got ready one floor up in this wonderful, atmospheric room.
Great tip from Chauncey: get a fancy hanger for your ‘wedding dress hanging’ shot! Great idea :-)
Beautiful bouquets.
Love this one.
The Bride and Bridesmaids check out the Groom just before going into Siena Town Hall.
Just married! Taken in Siena Town Hall.
Cheers!
Time for some shots in the piazza.
Back at Villa Catignano and time for some more photographs before the symbolic ceremony.
Guests head down to the gardens for the ceremony.
Here comes the Bride! With the legal bit done, this ceremony was so romantic and fun.
Mum gives Chauncey away for the second time! Later that evening Chauncey’s Mum gave one of the best speeches I think I’ve even heard.
Such a beautiful, romantic setting. The symbolic ceremony was given by a wonderful lady and guardian of Laird.
Confetti!
Drink, eat, have fun.
In amongst the lemon trees.
One of my signature group shots and a personal favourite of mine from the day.
The table looked jaw-dropingly beautiful. Is that a word?!
Wine: don’t mind if I do.
Looking for inspiration for your own wedding day: it’s here in abundance!
The Best Man introduces himself.
So many moments to capture.
What a setting.
As I said, a real stand-out wedding. Thanks to Laird, Chauncey, family and friends for the memories. Amy x
