Once again, a couple who were apparently desperate to book us to photograph their wedding have been disappointed by being beaten to the date by someone else. We’re honestly not making it up when we say to potential clients: “please don’t wait long if you’re serious about booking us – someone else may beat you to it!” Experience has taught us that once in a while, potential clients promise that they’re definitely booking but then, for one reason or another, they don’t follow it through; therefore, we don’t ‘hold’ dates indefinitely – we simply work on ‘1st come, 1st served.’ Those that return the contract (& retainer) promptly, secure our services for their day. If you think that we’re the photographers for you – please don’t assume that we’re turning down other offers whilst you think about it.
Bookings are brisk now for 2008 and we’re starting to fill the odd dates in for 2009 – if you’ve booked your venue, you need to book your photographer! – Andy
Twice a year, the most prestigious body in our industry – Wedding & Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), hold an 8″ x 10″ print competition. To be placed (1st, 2nd or 3rd) in any of the categories is a fabulous achievement considering the quality of the entrants – many of whom are amongst the world’s best. We received an email yesterday from WPPI with the results for Amy’s entries and of the 5 she entrusted with Poste Italiane to get to the USA (no mean feat!), she has achieved ‘Accolades of Excellence’ for 3 of them (i.e. they scored 80/100 or more) and an incredible 1st Place for the Wedding Photojournalism entry! Wow – nice one Amy :) We’ll see the winning entry in a future issue of Rangefinder magazine. We’ll also wait for the WPPI website to be updated before showing it here but a clue: it’s in one of our galleries – have a guess ;) – Andy
Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Peckforton Castle, Cheshire, UK for the wedding of Mark & Michelle.
We were back at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire on Friday for Mark & Michelle’s wedding. The deep blue sky and warm Autumn sun combined to show off the castle and grounds to their best and it was warm enough for the post-ceremony drinks and food to be had outside.
An extremely relaxed Bride, a first-time contact lens wearing Groom, nine Bridesmaids, a fairy-tale castle and the funniest Best-Man’s speech we’ve ever heard – there were plenty of stories to tell :) We’ll do that in the album, but for now, here are some glimpses of the day:
Michelle & the Bridesmaids.
Mark (& newly-inserted contact lenses)
I’d spent a while before Michelle walked down the aisle finding a decent shutter speed which would keep everyone else sharp(ish) but convey the motion of her dress. The pre-flash of the guest’s camera was a nice coincidence.
Outside and some fun with the long veil.

Ted (Best Man) in the middle of his epic speech.
This was taken at the same moment :)
During the First Dance bubbles appeared from the DJ area much to the delight of the youngsters.
Thank you to everyone for their hospitality – including the staff at Peckforton Castle who made sure we were looked after. Enjoy your honeymoon folks – speak to you soon! – Andy
