Wedding Photographer: Meole Brace Trinity Church & Mytton & Mermaid Hotel, Shrewsbury, Shropshire: Gareth & Kim

Amy was the wedding photographer at Meole Brace Trinity Church & Mytton & Mermaid Hotel, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, UK for Gareth & Kim’s wedding.

I was so excited for my first wedding of 2013. I left Warrington in thick snow, watching it melt as I drove to Shrewsbury: by the time I arrived there was barely a trace of the white stuff. The Mytton & Mermaid Hotel was host to the wedding reception and also where Kim was getting ready. A short drive to Trinity Church at Meole Brace for the ceremony and an exceptionally warm welcome for me from Phil the vicar got a big thumbs up!

The church has a lovely hall attached to it and all of the guests were treated to hot soup (in mugs) and rolls whilst I used the last bit of light to catch the group shots and some shots of Gareth & Kim. We soon headed back to the Mytton & Mermaid for welcome drinks under blankets on comfy settees and ‘huddling’ around the fire pits before the party headed inside for an evening of food and fun.

Wedding Photographer: Soulton Hall, Wem, Shrewsbury: Glyn & Ally

Amy was the wedding photographer at Soulton Hall, Wem, Shrewsbury, UK for Glyn & Ally’s wedding.

Last October I photographed the wedding of Dave & Jo in central Siena. A year on and it was the turn of Jo’s sister Ally who married Glyn at the Church of St. Luke in Weston-under-Redcastle, Shropshire on a beautiful October day. It was absolutely brilliant to catch up with Jo & Ally’s family and friends and to get to know Glyn better too.

The weather really was unbelievable for mid-October and guests made the most of it, drinking their mulled wine on the lawn during the reception. Soulton Hall, just a 5 minute drive from the church, is a beautiful Elizabethan manor house set on a gorgeous country estate in rural Shropshire. I really loved it, in fact, I didn’t want to leave! Take a look:

Wedding Photographer: Iscoyd Park, Whitchurch, Shropshire: Rich & Lois

Amy was the wedding photographer at Iscoyd Park, Whitchurch, Shropshire for Rich & Lois’s wedding.

After the two Lakes’ weddings, we drove through Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and France to make it in good time for the wedding of Rich & Lois, which was near to Whitchurch, on the Shropshire / Wales border. This wedding was a day out amongst old friends for me – the 5th wedding amongst the same party of friends that I had photographed. I recognized lots of guest’s faces and it was great to catch up with Laurie & Dave and Stacey & Ben.

Iscoyd Park is a real treasure of a wedding venue. A private home that has been beautifully renovated and is surrounded by lovely gardens. The weather just about held out too. The forecast for the day was dreadful and the heavens did open just as Lois arrived at church but, by the end of the ceremony, the sun had come out and guests could enjoy a couple of hours outside in the sunshine at Iscoyd Park.

I’m pretty sure that I have never before delivered so many images from the speeches alone. From Rich’s heart-opener to the Best Men & Bridesmaids character assignation of both Rich & Lois, guests went from laughing to crying and back again over and over again!

It was a shame that I was only allowed to stay at the back of the church throughout the ceremony. I am always so respectful of the ceremony and will ‘hold fire’ at the appropriate moments but, alas, perhaps yet another UK vicar had been bitten by the curse of the unruly wedding photographer and as such, I felt anything but welcome as I entered the church. Hey ho! Perhaps one day, the UK vicars and priests will take a leaf out of their Italian counter-part’s books and welcome everyone in – photographers too and let’s see if the numbers in church can rise to anything like that of Italy!

Here are some images to be going on with. These are sure to make you smile :-)

All hands on deck as the dress goes on.

Wedding photographer: Rowton Castle, Shropshire, UK: Chris & Louise

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Rowton Castle, Shropshire, UK for the wedding of Chris & Louise.

Louise, it’s your turn! Rowton Castle here we come! Finally, after the years of being our best blog stalker, you’re on!

I first met Louise and her Mum in January 2007. That month Louise and Chris booked us for their September 2009 wedding at the stunning Rowton Castle near to Shrewsbury in Shropshire. Even we couldn’t believe that the day had finally come around!

Louise looked absolutely stunning in a fabulous Hollywood Dreams dress. She had put an enormous amount of thought and effort into every detail of the wedding and to her (and her Mum’s) credit, the day went by without a hitch. Even the weather behaved!

We love Rowton Castle! We have photographed a handful of weddings there before but not for a little while so it was great to go back.

The ceremony took place St George’s Church in the nearby village of Pontesbury. Far too often we’re asked not to photograph the ‘actual’ signing of the register for fear that the Bride and Groom might be distracted. Mmmmm. Afterwards the priest/registrar will ‘set up’ the shot for me, complete with flower arrangement, in the dark. It was great to be left to our own devices on this day!

Wedding photographer: The Chapel, Oswestry School & Sweeney Hall, Shropshire, UK: James & Jo

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at The Chapel, Oswestry School & Sweeney Hall, Shropshire, UK for the wedding of James & Jo.

It was a pleasure to spend a day as photographers with James & Jo last Friday, as they celebrated their wedding. As the title says, they were married at The Chapel, Oswestry School, which is a beautiful, intimate venue for a wedding. The guests sit sideways which allows everyone a good view of the wedding as you’ll see in some of the images below. Afterwards they were driven to Sweeney Hall Country House Hotel for their reception.

OK, here are some of their highlights:

A beautiful image of Jo having her makeup finished.

James with his proud Mum.

An idea of the chosen colour-scheme.

Mid-ceremony and a great view of the inside of the chapel.

Yup, the ring fits!

Even the babies were singing!

Outside the chapel afterwards. I don’t know if this is singing or something else entirely.

Love this – a great reaction to a funny moment.

James & Jo did an amazing first dance as you can see from the reactions of the guests in the background.

Finally, since they had a live band for their evening party, I’ve included a photograph of one of the musicians since we rarely feature them on the blog.

Thanks folks for a really great day – we loved it! Sorry it’s taken a few days to get something on the blog for you – hope the honeymoon is going great. – Andy
