I bet all the Brides, Grooms and wedding guests that were here in Italy over the summer, sweltering in 30+ degrees heat would find it hard to believe that, right now, as I write, there is half a metre of snow outside and we are completely and utterly snowed in! It has barely got above zero in the last week and whilst this is only day 3 of the snowfall, the forecast says that we have at least 5 days of this to come yet.
Nothing like being stuck at home to concentrate the mind on updating the website! I have decided to write a small piece about several venues that I particularly love working at. So far, I have added 2 pages: one about Hedingham Castle, a venue with a historic Norman Keep on the Essex / Suffolk border and one about Peckforton Castle, a magical castle in the heart of Cheshire.
If you’re thinking about either of these venues for your wedding, you won’t go far wrong! – Amy
And there went another year …
This summer for me was completely crazy. In June and July we were on the road for 7 weeks for 10 weddings after which 3 days at home was followed by another 2 1/2 weeks away and another 4 weddings. A very brief chance to catch my breath in August was followed by 10 weddings between the very end of August and the 1st of October. Loved every minute of it and can’t wait for it to start again this summer.
Photographing weddings is my absolute passion and I simply can’t get enough of it!
2012 is looking like it’s going to be just as hectic as I approach 30 booked weddings but with some gaps in the calendar here and there so please do get in touch if you’re on the hunt for your wedding photographer.
So, photos, photos, photos! Everyone wants to see more so I have selected some of my favourites from the weddings that I have photographed in 2011 and added them to my Facebook galleries. Favourites 2011 – let me know what you think and please tag yourself if you’re in there! If that’s not enough and you’d like to have a look at some of my favourites from 2010 and 2009 then you can find them at the following links: Favourites 2010 & Favourites 2009.
Here are a handful of my fave faves!

A couple of weeks ago I added a new article above on the subject of Wedding Group Photographs or ‘Formals’ as they’re often called. It covers my general thoughts and ideas about the lowly group shot, the different styles of group shot and some examples. A bride and groom recently booked me and during their initial questions they asked about my thoughts on the group shot and basically were keen to double-check that I was happy to do them. They seemed to have experienced difficulties with other photographers suggesting that they either didn’t do them at all or who were very keen to keep the number of group shots to an absolute minimum. I have a slightly different take on it.

So-called ‘Vintage Wedding Photography’ has taken off over the last couple of years. I’ve been asked a fair number of questions about this trend by Brides over the last few months, and so I figured it would be a good idea write some things down. Rather than a blog post, I have added it as a featured article above.
I was keen to make the point that the ‘vintage look’ of the photographs is normally added in post-processing (unless the photographer is using vintage equipment etc.) Therefore, if you are planning a vintage wedding, you don’t have to limit your photographer choice to only those who advertise themselves as vintage photographers. Go for the photographer whose images you love and discuss the final look that you would like your photos to take on with your photographer in the lead up to the wedding.
I’d be keen to hear your thoughts.
Look up? A new Features section has appeared. Right now there is just one article listed but that won’t be the case for long.
The first article that I have written is about Wedding Planners. Have a read and then let me know your thoughts. Did you hire a Wedding Planner for your wedding? Can you recommend them? Perhaps you are a Wedding Planner. If so, you might have more benefits to tell us about that I haven’t mentioned – leave a comment if that’s the case.
Look forward to hearing from you.
