Artist Sarah Bradpiece sculpts Chenin: an update

A month or so ago, I wrote a post about a wonderful local artist Sarah Bradpiece and how lucky we felt when she asked if she could do a sculpture of our daughter Chenin’s head. If you missed the post, here it is:

Sarah Bradpiece creates a terracotta sculpture of Chenin

I wanted to photograph the sculpture as it was being created, as much for our memories as anything but also to spread the word about Sarah’s amazing talent and the work that she produces. As I said in my initial post, the sculpture will be part of Sarah’s exhibition in the Umbrian town of Umbertide in late spring where it will be on display and for sale.

The sculpture is now a ‘work in progress’ and I have photographed its first 2 phases so far.

The starting point. Get some clay onto the stick!

Next phase and you can really see it starting to take shape.

Sarah works from photographs pasted up in her studio.

How wonderful is this? I love it.

Not Chenin’s head but Sarah’s cat Sicily posing for me. Sarah has a beautiful house in a VERY beautiful place. She plans to open it up as a Bed & Breakfast in the coming months so watch this space.

Sarah already runs Art Holidays in Umbria. Take a look at her website for more information. Back soon with the next phase of the head! Amyx
