Wedding Photographer: Teatro Mancinelli, Orvieto: Craig & Kerin

Amy was the photographer at Teatro Mancinelli, Orvieto, Umbria, Italy for Craig & Kerin’s wedding.

I married Andy in Orvieto in 2007. Since then I have photographed several weddings in the Orvieto-area but have never had the opportunity to photograph a wedding in the town centre. Until now. Craig & Kerin also chose Orvieto for their magical wedding and can you believe it – the same lady that married them had married us 5 years earlier!

The couple’s 5 best friends were witness to this wonderfully intimate and romantic ceremony in the breath-taking Teatro Mancinelli. After the ceremony we had some time to take some photographs on the stage of the Theatre followed by a short walk to the Duomo (cathedral) which, I have to say, still knocks my socks off after going there for all these years.

Drinks at the bar followed by dinner at a beautifully-laid table on the main street of town made the day completely perfect. Craig & Kerin were so much fun to photograph, dancing in the streets and up for striking every pose in the book! What a fabulous day – I loved every single minute of it. Huge thanks to wedding planner Elia, a wonderful wedding planner in Tuscany / Umbria: Super Tuscan Wedding Planners who co-ordinated the wedding on the day. Take a peek:

Wedding Photographer: La Badia, Orvieto, Umbria: Wolter & Estelle

Amy was the photographer at La Badia, Orvieto, Umbria, Italy for Wolter & Estelle’s wedding.

Not long back from France and I had 5 weddings in the week ahead. Starting in my favourite Italian town of all and the town where I got married, Orvieto. The venue, La Badia, was somewhere I knew very well and actually overlooks Orvieto. Such a beautiful and atmospheric place, I was really looking forward to going back there and to see Wolter and Estelle again.

The weather was beautiful and the sun streaming in through the single high window in the chapel made for a magical ceremony. Dutch tradition saw the cake being cut and eaten immediately after the ceremony which we then followed with group shots and lots of food and drink! The tables laid out in the old ruins of the ancient abbey were absolutely stunning. Take a look:

Wedding Photographer: La Badia, Orvieto, Umbria: Chris & Van

Andy & Amy were the Wedding Photographers in Orvieto, Umbria, Italy for the wedding of Chris & Van.

Wow – it’s been a wedding whirlwind week away: We’ve done Home (Umbria) to Pompeii – Amalfi – Rome – Liverpool – Bury St Edmunds – Liverpool – Rome – Sorrento – Home. All in 7 days. Unfortunately, one thing that suffers with so much travelling is the blog – many apologies – there’ll be a couple of updates this week.

We travelled to one of our favourite wedding places, Orvieto (where we got married actually!) on one of the hottest days so far this year for Chris & Van’s wedding. They’d chosen the stunning La Badia for their special day – a recommendation of ours and it was amazing! The evening setting for dinner was just beautiful & the Italian’s have the perfect knack of making everything look so classy.

Anyway, on with some images:

Chris never once appeared nervous.

A beautiful day, they couldn’t have done it any better. Can’t wait to finish the album :) Thanks Chris & Van for everything, especially for looking after us on the day. A big thank you also to the many, many guests who made us feel so welcome.

Wedding photographer: La Badia, Orvieto, Umbria, Italy: Paddy & Annabel

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at La Badia, Orvieto, Umbria, Italy for the wedding of Paddy & Annabel.

Our busiest period of this year will probably be that which has just ended. But how many photographers can have been as privileged as us to have worked at so many incredible venues in such a short space of time?!

It was quite a coincidence that one year after our own wedding in Orvieto, we were back in that very town for Paddy & Annabel’s wedding at La Badia. This Abbey, originally constructed in the 6th Century, is a beautiful wedding venue and one which we’ve often looked over towards from Orvieto. The weather wasn’t particularly kind in the period before the ceremony with some particularly heavy rain, but in true romantic fashion, the clouds cleared and the sun came out before everyone left the chapel. Actually, since I was outside at the time watching (& photographing!) the ceremony from a different view point, I can testify that the sun appeared for the first time, within seconds of Paddy & Annabel being pronounced “husband & wife.”

So, we’ve got a lot of great images – mostly photojournalistic this time, to share.

La Badia. It was raining steadily when I took this from the middle of the main road on our way to La Badia from Orvieto – a more dangerous photograph than you may imagine.

The inside of the chapel; very simple, elegant & a beautifully soft light courtesy of the overcast skies.

A lovely capture of the young flower-girl in particular.

Although we often prefer photojournalistic images in black & white, the colours here are wonderful. I’m not certain this is telling us just how heavy the rain was however!!

Annabel just after leaving her room in the long upstairs corridor.

Annabel & her Uncle exit the doors for the short walk across the courtyard to the chapel.

Fast-forward to a lovely moment during the ceremony.

The car was a surprise for Annabel after leaving the chapel and it enabled the happy couple to enjoy a few moments completely alone before returning for drinks (…and photographs!) I was particularly pleased to have squeezed the Italian numberplate into this image.

Whilst the band played (they’d setup inside since the weather wasn’t predictable), the guests were able to listen and enjoy their drinks & canapes outside in the courtyard.

Another jump on towards the end of the evening. You may have needed to have been there to appreciate this image, but to explain: it’s a hundred or so guests outside, under the arches of the Abbey, reeling; they had so much fun, they didn’t want to stop. I can also spot Amy (who, due to being short) is standing on a table in the background next to a video-light.

Once more, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves – thank you to Paddy & Annabel and their friends & families for making us feel so welcome (and to the kind lady who insisted I have some wedding cake :) ) – Andy

David A Williams presents:

Here you go – a very rapid selection of images from our wedding day. David will ‘work’ his images in his own special way so we’ve done very little to them other than crop them and resize them for the blog. We’ve left the ‘arty’ ones for him to show – these are just a VERY small selection of hundreds of incredible images!

Thank you so much David – we can’t stop grinning and these really are scratching the surface of what’s to come!! – A&A
