Wedding Photographer: Church of St Abbondio in Mezzegra & Villa d’Este, Lake Como: Mark & Henrietta

September 19th, 1 comment

Amy was the wedding photographer at the Church of St Abbondio in Mezzegra and Villa d’Este, Lake Como for Mark & Henrietta’s wedding.

When the sun is shining at Lake Como and the sky is deep blue, there is nowhere quite like it. Mark & Henrietta were so lucky with the fabulous weather. It was a perfect day in more ways than one however. I have photographed weddings at the Church of St Abbondio in Mezzegra before – what a setting! The church sits high above the Lake, the views are magnificent and the interior of the church isn’t bad neither! The 4 singers on the balcony that sang throughout the ceremony reminded me of the last 10 minutes of Sister Act. Hasten to add, I had a few ‘tingly’ moments.

About half an hour south along the Lake from Mezzegra sits Villa d’Este. Wow, Wow, Wow – there are no words to describe this place. Read about its history and impressive guests list but first, take a look at the images below:

Mark & Henrietta arrived at Villa d’Este by car whilst their guests enjoyed a boat ride past George’s place! This gave us some extra time to take some photographs of the couple in the beautiful gardens.

Wedding Photographer: Fawsley Hall: Simon & Nicola

September 12th, 2 comments

Amy was the wedding photographer at Fawsley Hall, Northamptonshire for Simon & Nicola’s wedding.

From Hedingham Castle in Essex, I headed straight to Northamptonshire to photograph the wedding of Simon & Nicola at the very beautiful Fawsley Hall. A former Royal estate dating back as far as the 7th century and a popular place for Queen Elizabeth I to stay. The view from the front of the Hall is quintessentially English with fields of sheep, oak trees and a stunning little chapel & the Great Hall is jaw-dropping.

St. Mary’s church in Bitteswell was where the ceremony took place; about a 40 minute drive from Fawsley Hall. Guests were in for a treat when we arrived back as a wonderful band were playing and ice-cream was being served.

I must say thanks to Simon’s Best man and ushers who were all a great help to me on the day and well done to Nicola’s Mum and friend Julia for getting Nicola into that incredible dress (which came with a power-point presentation about how to get it on!!) What a dress it was though! Nicola looked stunning. Take a look:

Wedding Photographer: Hedingham Castle: Chris & Natasha

September 6th, What do you think?

Amy was the wedding photographer at Hedingham Castle, Essex for Chris & Natasha’s wedding.

I have been photographing this particular group of friends for years now and think this was wedding number 7 from the bunch. And what a wedding! Hedingham Castle on the Essex-Suffolk border is just to die for. The ceremony took place in a Norman keep that was built around 1140. The atmosphere during the ceremony was like nothing I have experienced before throughout a ceremony – the candlelight, the guest-filled balconies and the highlight of the guest singer.

After the ceremony, the bridal party and guests walked over the little bridge and into the beautiful gardens of the house. The wedding breakfast then took place in a marquee attached to the back of the house. A brilliant and very beautiful wedding venue. Take a look:

Stunning garden.

Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

August 31st, 1 comment

Amy was the wedding photographer in Tuscany, Italy for Alex & Abbie’s wedding.

Sunday was such a special day for me. To see Tuscany at its very best and to have the honour of photographing a beautiful wedding was truly memorable. Alex & Abbie got married in the most stunning chapel I think I have ever photographed a wedding in but for various reasons, the location of it must remain a secret. If you are interested in getting married at this ‘moon on a stick’ location then there is only one way of going about it and that is to contact the wonderful Jacqueline Bradshaw from Marry Me in Tuscany.

After the ceremony and a light lunch we stopped off at Sant’Antimo Abbey. A stunning Abbey with an interesting history and certainly worth a visit if you are in the area. Then it was an hour or so in the cars to the south west of Tuscany to celebrate the wedding reception at the chic Conti di San Bonifacio. Jackie did such a wonderful job of making the table look amazing – the guests almost keeled over as they came round the corner to be met with the sight of where they were to sit and eat.

Just 12 guests made the day very personal, romantic and relaxed. I loved every minute of it. Now then, I bet you’re dying to have a look at some of the images:

The view from the kitchen window in the apartment that the bride and her Mum got ready in. Not bad hey.

More detail to capture so that it is never forgotten. Abbie’s Mum is underneath!

May I introduce Gran. This gorgeous lady, the VIP of the guest list is 98 years old! She certainly seemed to have a fabulous time in Tuscany.

Ok, I’ll give you another little glimpse-ette of the chapel.

wedding photographer tuscany 022 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Light-lunch, Tuscan-style was served directly outside the chapel with a view of Tuscany that was to die for. Panzanella was served, one of my favourite dishes.

Role on a few hours and Alex & Abbie arrive at Conti di San Bonifacio ahead of the guests. Isn’t this beautiful?

Meanwhile, the guests enjoyed prosecco and an incredible cheese and prosciutto board.

And so I left the party eating, drinking and laughing around the table – just how it should be.

Wedding Photographer: Ravello, Amalfi Coast: Dean & Rebecca

August 13th, What do you think?

Amy was the wedding photographer at Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy for Dean & Rebecca’s wedding.

From Lake Orta, we were back down to Ravello on the Amalfi Coast via home just for a few days – talk about travelling the length and breadth of Italy this summer!

We stayed in a hotel that we haven’t stayed in before in a village called Scala, very close to Ravello. In fact, Scala ‘overlooks’ Ravello giving a fabulous view of the beautiful town and a great opening shot for a wedding in Ravello!

Dean & Rebecca were married in the gardens next to Palazzo Sasso – Giardini della Principessa di Piemonte. The gardens are stunning with a magnificent view over the Bay of Salerno. After the ceremony, and an hour or two in the main piazza, we headed off to ‘da Salvatore’ restaurant. What a setting and the food was just to die for (as was the wine – I can vouch for both!)

Here’s a little taster:
