Amy was the wedding photographer in Varenna, Bellagio & Veleso, Lake Como, Italy for Stevie & Rachel’s wedding.

The weather on the 1st of October was absolutely beautiful. Bright blue, not a cloud in the sky and almost as hot as a mid-summer’s day but without the bugs! I’m not sure that there is anywhere quite like Lake Como when the weather is perfect like that and the treat of going way up high above the Lake to a little place called Veleso was outstanding.

Rachel got ready in a lovely apartment directly opposite George Clooney’s house in Pognana Lario and then jumped on a boat for a half hour journey to Varenna for the ceremony. The Old Church of San Giorgio in Varenna is gorgeous and the religious ceremony provided the perfect contrast to the rest of the day which was relaxed and fun.

After the ceremony, Rachel, Stevie and I jumped back on the speed boat to get ahead of the guests so we could get some time for photographs in Bellagio. After that it was up the 4 mile windy, steep road to Veleso where the views across the mountains blew everyone away. Take a look:

Amy was the wedding photographer in Sarzana, Liguria, Italy for Alex & Katherine’s wedding.

North of Pisa and Lucca, Tuscany meets Liguria and towns such as Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi, la Spezia and the famous Cinque Terre are situated along the coast. Nestled in amongst these is Sarzana; the location for the wedding of Alex & Katherine. My jaw dropped when I entered the cathedral. Simply ‘WOW.’ Santa Maria Assunta Cathedral is in central Sarzana and unbeknown to Alex and Katherine, the 24th of September was not only their wedding day but also Sarzana’s celebration of Napoleon. Armies marched through the city firing canons as they went. The noise was unbelievable and Katherine waited outside church until the main part of the procession had passed – otherwise, nobody would have been able to hear a word the priest was saying!

After the beautiful ceremony the Bride & Groom and I travelled a short distance to a wonderful home of a family friend to take some photographs before we joined the rest of the guests at the Antico Casale Sarzana. The display of food was second-to-none and the room was alive with fun, games and laughter. Take a look:

Napoleon’s Army took to the streets of Sarzana and made a LOT of noise as they went.

Katherine wore her Mother’s wedding dress. Such amazing lace detail and the most gorgeous veil.

Alex & Katherine are based in Shanghai. Chinese tradition had guests shouting for as long and loud as they could before drinking the contents of their glass in one. I absolutely love this shot.

Amy was the wedding photographer at Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy for John & Alison’s wedding.

The weekend of the 23rd / 24th September was a two-wedding-weekend for me. The first wedding was in beautiful Ravello, a place that I now feel I know like the back of my hand. This was a wedding that I was really looking forward to. It would be rude to mention ages but let’s just say that the gorgeous bride, Alison had waited rather a long time for this day to come.

Villa Fraulo, a wonderfully luxurious and exclusive resort, played host to the couple and their guests on this special day. The wedding itself took place at the Giardini della Principessa di Piemonte which has the most impressive view along to the Bay of Salerno and we found time to wonder around the very pretty little town of Ravello and visit Villa Rufolo. Take a look:

Amy was the wedding photographer at La Sorgente di Francesca, Tuscany for Mark & Olivia’s wedding.

A few years ago I photographed the wedding of Olivia’s cousin, Annabel. A kind recommendation meant that I was invited to photograph Mark & Olivia tie the knot in a very, very beautiful part of Tuscany. Ok, so it’s all pretty gorgeous, but the area to the north east of Florence is perhaps just a little more ‘untouched’ than other areas and La Sorgente di Francesca is a real find.

A traditional exterior and courtyard with stunning 360 degree forest views, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves was paralleled by a quite funky and light interior – quite unusual for a Tuscan Villa.

Mark & Olivia were chilled out beyond belief! Mark’s hearty laugh could be heard all day long whilst the prosecco flowed like water and the musicians played. Great atmosphere and good fun.

Amy was the wedding photographer at Positano Town Hall, Amalfi Coast for Mat & Pia’s wedding.

When Mat & Pia first contacted me, they planned to elope. To come to beautiful Positano on the Amalfi Coast from their home in Australia and get married – just the two of them. In fact, as their big day approached, their parents chose to join them and so it was that Pia & Mat got married with just their Mums and Dads there to witness. How special.

After a heartfelt ceremony at Positano Town Hall and a quick photo shoot at a look-out point high above Positano we headed off for the most amazing boat ride of all time. From Positano, we went around Li Galli islands, privately owned and just totally beautiful. As the sun went down over the water, the light was golden and the views across the sea where sensational. A trip that I will certainly never forget.

Once back on dry land, Positano came alive as tourists came down to the sea front to eat whilst we went up high to the luxurious boutique hotel, Le Sirenuse. Finally, I have photographed a Bride & Groom in a hotel featured in my Hip Hotels coffee-table book!

Mat & Pia got ready together at Hotel Marincanto. Their room had an indoor pool in it!! Here is a photograph of the hotel’s beautiful terrace.

The girl that did Pia’s make-up was a fellow Australian but living nearby to Positano in Salerno.

Mat did a grand job of getting Pia into her dress. Here’s Mum doing a few last minute tweaks.
