Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Church of Ascension, Warrington & The Midland Hotel, Manchester, UK for the wedding of Stuart & Jenny.

It’s not very often that I get to photograph the weddings of people that I know, not least people that I have known well all of my life. The 28th November was an exception though as Stuart and Jenny were married in Woolston, Warrington followed by a wonderful reception at The Midland Hotel in central Manchester. My parents and Jenny’s parents have been friends for life; Jenny’s Dad was Best Man for my Dad 34 years ago and they are Godparents for each others’ children.

A teeny bit more pressure this time to nail it then! We had to be pretty creative with our light sources as the natural light had almost gone as we arrived at The Midland Hotel at about three thirty. The Midland had just been decorated for Christmas and looked absolutely fantastic with two enormous trees in the lobby.

The little Flower Girl behaved impeccably all day and posed for the camera whenever we went near to her – model material!

Amy was the wedding photographer at University Chapel & Inglewood Manor, Chester, UK for the wedding of Chris & Louise.

On the 23rd October I photographed the wedding of Anthony and Suzanne in Chester, Cheshire. We had such a laugh at Suzanne’s house whilst she, her Mum & Dad, 3 gorgeous bridesmaids and her little flower girl all got ready. ‘Chilled out’ was the phrase! As I was photographing on my own, as soon as Suzanne was ready I raced to The Chapel at the University of Chester to grab some shots of Anthony pre-ceremony and to capture Suzanne’s arrival. I was asked to move as little as possible during the ceremony but luckily I was in a great spot and caught some lovely moments throughout.

On to Inglewood Manor in Ledsham, just on the outskirts of Chester, for a fun reception and very tasty meal. A word must be said about Dad’s speech which enabled me to get the most fabulous set of images – people laughing so much they look like they’re about to explode!

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Castello di Gargonza, Tuscany, Italy for the wedding of Griff & Yasmine.

In 2006 we photographed Dave & Nina at La Selva in Tuscany and in 2007 we photographed Nina’s Bridesmaid Rachel who married Martin in the Dordogne, in France. Griff & Yasmine were guests at both weddings and so photographing their Tuscan wedding on the 26th September was like meeting up with old friends. What a fabulous day! Castello di Gargonza is a stunning venue not too far from Arezzo in Tuscany. A wonderful open-air ceremony in a very beautiful setting was followed by ‘aperitivi’ at the swimming pool. The wedding meal followed with seven courses of Michelin star-style food including the best risotto and sorbet that I have ever, ever tasted.

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Peckforton Castle, Cheshire, UK for the wedding of Paul & Carly.

We’ve been the chosen photographers for quite a few weddings at Peckforton Castle in the past and we always enjoy returning there. Paul & Carly had a fabulous wedding on the 22nd September – unusually, a Tuesday. The day was full of surprises; Carly’s Dad dressed in a kilt in his traditional Welsh tartan – not even Mum knew about it! Paul had arranged for the rings to be delivered by a beautiful Canadian great-horned owl and, to keep guests entertained, there was a fabulous Birds of Prey display during the afternoon.

Paul helped get everyone else ready in the morning. Here he is helping his Father-in-Law-to-be into his surprise outfit.

I have my eyes closed in one of my favourite images of me on my wedding day. I hope Carly loves this one as much! I think it’s gorgeous.

The owl behaved impeccably and was a great surprise for Carly. One less thing for the Best man to remember!

The Great Hall at Peckforton Castle is beautifully-lit. Time to celebrate!

The display gave us some great opportunities to capture some hilarious reactions of the birds getting so close.

The wedding breakfast was a hog-roast buffet – something that guests always enjoy. Andy claims that it was delicious. As a vegetarian I have to admit to keeping my distance!

A wonderful, fun day upon which the sun shone despite the forecast for rain. We travelled the day after Paul & Carly’s wedding for the wedding of Griff & Yasmine in Tuscany – images coming soon! – Amy.

Louise, it’s your turn! Rowton Castle here we come! Finally, after the years of being our best blog stalker, you’re on!

I first met Louise and her Mum in January 2007. That month Louise and Chris booked us for their September 2009 wedding at the stunning Rowton Castle near to Shrewsbury in Shropshire. Even we couldn’t believe that the day had finally come around!

Louise looked absolutely stunning in a fabulous Hollywood Dreams dress. She had put an enormous amount of thought and effort into every detail of the wedding and to her (and her Mum’s) credit, the day went by without a hitch. Even the weather behaved!

We love Rowton Castle! We have photographed a handful of weddings there before but not for a little while so it was great to go back.

The ceremony took place St George’s Church in the nearby village of Pontesbury. Far too often we’re asked not to photograph the ‘actual’ signing of the register for fear that the Bride and Groom might be distracted. Mmmmm. Afterwards the priest/registrar will ‘set up’ the shot for me, complete with flower arrangement, in the dark. It was great to be left to our own devices on this day!
