Wedding Photographer: Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy – Church of Santa Maria a Gradillo & Mamma Agata: Sam & Lea

Amy was the wedding photographer at the Church of Santa Maria a Gradillo & Mamma Agata’s in Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy for Sam & Lea’s Wedding.

Just 16 guests, a huge storm, awe-inspiring views, the beauty of Ravello, one very classy hotel and THE best food EVER. Here’s the story of the day for the wedding of Sam & Lea. What rain! It didn’t just rain, it poured down and it didn’t just last for a little while, it poured down all day long. Nevertheless, no spirits were dampened. An intimate occasion & the guests smiled all day long :-) How could they not? They were in Ravello! Not only that but they got to eat and drink at Mamma Agata’s. Honestly, I’m not just saying this – I have simply never eaten food quite like it (…and neither has Andy who came to pick me up and ended up having a feast!)

Am I going on a bit about the food? I haven’t finished. I am so lucky that I get to sample scrumptious, tasty wedding menus week-in week-out throughout Italy and the UK (Italy normally has the slight edge!) but at Sam & Lea’s wedding, they chose the fabulous reception venue of Mamma Agata’s ‘Hidden Treasure’ Cookery School. I can not find the words … Scrummy, yummy, sensational tasting food. It looked good but the taste was … well, I bought the cookbook before I left. Unfortunately, Sam & Lea’s wedding was one of the last that they will host at the Hidden Treasure, but don’t worry, you can enroll for one of their cookery schools – Pierce Brosnan did last year so why not! Otherwise, find their cookbook online and buy it. It would make a great Christmas present too!

Lea got ready in a very beautiful villa: Villa Scarpiarello. It was like entering a lost garden:

Folks, you were such good fun. Thanks for not minding getting wet and thank you for allowing me to sample such amazing food and wine. Shannon, your wedding planner from The Amalfi Experience, was a joy to work with and did a fabulous job, adjusting your plans to allow for the weather brilliantly. I will be talking about your wedding at Mamma Agata’s for a long time to come. Full wedding to follow very shortly.

Italian Lakes Weddings

Thinking of having your wedding in Italy?: Having been a wedding photographer in Italy for quite a few years, I can give you a helping hand! There are many wonderful wedding venues in Italy & I have decided to write some information pages, region by region, about the wedding destinations I love to photograph the most. I hope this information will help to give you a starting point planning your wedding in Italy.

First of all, the Italian Lakes. You’ll notice the new addition to my main website Italian Lakes Weddings. Please have a look through and perhaps, from this, you may decide to take the plunge and begin to plan for your big day on the shores of Lake Garda, Lake Como, Lake Maggiore or perhaps one of the other smaller, but no less dramatic Italian Lakes.

A couple of images may just help persuade you just how amazing a wedding destination they can be:

The incredible Villa del Balbianello near Lenno on Lake Como. I believe it’s Richard Branson who has the amazing house next-door!

Multi-coloured towns and villages, so much a part of Italy, are dotted around all of the Italian Lakes. This was taken in Malcesine, Lake Garda.

And finally, another image from Lake Garda.

Blog updates…

You’ll probably notice that things keep changing on the blog. I’m gradually updating the way it indexes everything and it’s a pain-stakingly slow process! I’ve also removed (well, archived away) all the posts prior to mid-2007. They’re not so relevant anymore and since we were one of the first photographers in the UK to have a blog (since early 2005!) there’s a lot of stuff in there which takes up a lot of space and server load.

We’ll see you on the other side! – Andy

Wedding Photographer: Umbria, Italy – Assisi, Castello di Petrata: Andrew & Natalie

Amy was the wedding photographer at Castello di Petrata near Assisi in Umbria, Italy for Andrew & Natalie’s wedding.

Andrew & Natalie got married high up in the hills behind Assisi at the stunning Castello di Petrata on a beautiful, sunny but rather blustery day. This venue really does have 360 degree views and is a great choice being so close to Perugia airport and therefore to Stansted.

An emotional but relaxing day, Andrew & Natalie’s guests had flown in from far and wide including Natalie’s family and a couple of friends from South Africa. They were treated to the wonderful Marco Marconi playing piano during the ceremony and aperitivi and typical but outstanding Umbrian food.

Take a look:

Assisi is one of my favourite towns. Castello di Petrata sits high in the hills just behind the town:
