Why you need to book early!

Yes it’s only January, but we’re declaring ourselves fully-booked for 2009 weddings; we simply can’t do anymore than those we’re already booked for.  Venues routinely take bookings years in advance and I guess many couples like to book their photographers and other vendors equally early in many cases.  So, unfortunately if you were thinking of booking us this year, we’re really sorry to disappoint.  If you’re getting married in 2010 and you’re reading this, please don’t wait too long – we’re already booking at a crazy rate!

To give one example of advance booking: Louise booked us back in January 2007 for her wedding in September 2009!  We can’t wait to photograph her wedding – it’s one that we’ve talked about so often!  If you’re reading this Louise – “Hi!” & we hope you don’t mind us using you as an example :)

If you’re looking for a great photographer for 2009 & you’re having trouble finding one you like – we’d be more than happy to refer you to photographers who are true professionals and who are committed to furthering the good reputation & quality of wedding photography in Europe.

Finally, I’m sure there were some clients over the past couple of months who thought we were probably bluffing when we said  “please don’t wait long – we’re almost booked up!”  It’s nice to be able to write this to reassure them that we were telling the truth :) – Andy

Wedding photographer: Manchester Town Hall, UK: Jonathan & Kate

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Manchester Town Hall, UK for the wedding of Jonathan & Kate.

Are you considering getting married in the North West and are stuck for which venue to choose from? Have you considered Manchester Town Hall? You really should; it’s absolutely stunning and was the venue for Jonathan & Kate’s wedding last Saturday. With photograph opportunities abound and such a gorgeous-looking couple we were spoiled for choice when it came to choosing images for the bLOG. This venue really is a wedding photographer’s dream and here is a taster of why:

Just as good on the outside as on the inside – Manchester Town Hall:

I LOVE this shot! How funny!

Jonathan’s arrival was memorable; his car was a classic and reminded me of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! It kept many tourists busy photographing it whilst it remained parked outside the Town Hall throughout the ceremony. Jonathan’s leaning on the car for this shot:

Meanwhile, us girls were having a great laugh! I want to say a huge thank you to the bridesmaids for helping me out all day long :)

A lovely family shot:

We found it difficult to take a poor shot inside Manchester Town Hall from any angle:

The happy couple just-married:

We managed to get outside just before 4pm as the light was fading:

Oh boy! We have both fallen for this shot and think that it may have good competition mileage in it. It’s got such depth to it that you end up staring at it for ages and reading the story of the moment through people’s faces. Meanwhile, the subjects in the artwork on the wall above are looking down on the audience:

A lovely moment during the speeches:

This shot was 100% planned. As soon as I saw Kate’s veil, I pictured this shot in my head and stored it there until much later in the day. We’ve managed to execute it in the exact way that I first pictured it in my mind and am really pleased with its intensity:

A boogie to good-old Lionel Richie – what a way to finish the day!

Wow! What a wedding! I am so excited to start piecing this album together to form the sensational story of Jonathan & Kate’s wedding day. Enjoy your Brazilian / Argentinian honeymoon folks – we’re not at all jealous!!! -Amy

Wedding photographer: Peckforton Castle, Cheshire, UK: Matt & Charlie

Amy was the wedding photographer at Peckforton Castle, Cheshire, UK for the wedding of Matt & Charlie.

The setting; a beautiful medieval castle. The date; New Year’s Eve 2008. Could it get any more romantic?! I travelled to Cheshire for New Year for this fabulous occasion as a sole wedding photographer – a candle-lit castle, a foggy winter’s day and the groom is a photographer – no pressure then! However, the results are fabulous thanks to Matt & Charlie for giving me time, to Chris the usher for helping me with my video light and to Ray the toastmaster for getting all of the right people in the right places for the groups. We are at Peckforton Castle again later this year and are really looking forward to it. On with the images:

It really was a freezing cold day: my car read -4 degrees when I arrived and when I left and I don’t think it got any warmer all day!

Meanwhile, Charlie was going from being gorgeous to even more gorgeous:

Since I was on my own, I started off photographing the ceremony at the front near to the couple but half-way through slipped out and crept up to the balcony for a different angle:

The fog didn’t lift all day, which made for some wonderfully atmospheric shots:

Despite not feeling too well, Charlie still managed to laugh all day:

Love this! Off-camera flash is ace!

Without the flash the results are totally different which made for a great variety of shots:

Thanks Chris – you held the video light in exactly the right place for this shot:
