Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Statham Lodge, Cheshire, UK for the wedding of Mike & Kerry.
It’s been a little while since we updated our blog – we’ve had some travelling to do! On Saturday we were in Cheshire for Mike & Kerry’s wedding at St John’s in Walton followed by the reception at Statham Lodge. As Mike & Kerry were getting ready within just a couple of miles of each other, Amy & I split up – Amy went to Kerry’s parents’ house to photograph the bridal preparations & I went to Statham Lodge to meet up with Mike & his best men – Alex & Kostas. Everyone was surprisingly relaxed – the vicar was wonderful & they had a superb band in the evening. We’ve got some really great images as a result. Here are a few straight out of camera:
Kerry’s sister Sarah did her makeup beautifully.
I like the shirt & tie combination.
The groom (middle) & best men.
Kerry with her Dad. Mum in the doorway.
Little Evis didn’t want his photograph taken – until he saw the back of the camera! This was a pose he wanted himself: “my angry face” which was closely followed by the “tiger face” :)
Outside the church surrounded by friends & family.
The evening fun got underway with the first dance, followed shortly afterwards by the ‘money dance’. What a great tradition!
There are loads more where these came from. Thanks for having us folks – it was great (although I think I ate too much chocolate!) Thanks also to Kelly & the staff at Statham Lodge for looking after us. – Andy
After a manic few weeks of weddings combined with a lot of travelling, we’ve had a couple of weeks at home to catch up with a mountain of processing. We’re not completely on top of it yet but we’re making great progress. So, Martin & Rachel and Andy & Vicki – they’re not going to be long now!
Whilst Amy has been busy with much of the album design, I’ve been tweaking the website and I’ve just added three images to the galleries. When I first designed the site, I really wanted to retain a consistency with the galleries and I decided to stick with purely landscape-orientated images. For me, they’re just more pleasing to the eye and I can display them at a good size without changing the physical dimensions of the site. We’re quite confident that we have mountains of great shots taken this way but we’re also conscious of the fact that you may not be seeing some of our very best work so I’ll post some of our current favourites ‘vertical-style’ next time.
So, the three new gallery images added today: when we’re choosing these we don’t even pick our very favourites sometimes. We’re constantly looking for variety – it’s boring to sit through too much repetitive stuff eh? If you want to see these larger, have a look in the galleries (you may need to clear your cache if you’ve been in there previously.)
This is one of my favourites of all. I love the simplicity of the lines, the light, the question it asks…I could go on :)
This one took a lot of post-processing. The ‘before’ & ‘after’ are like two different images altogether. This is more how we originally imagined the image with our eyes – unfortunately the camera (& more specifically – lens) doesn’t always record it that way!
I didn’t remember having any ‘dancing’ shots in the gallery. This is very recent (as you’ll probably remember!) It’s a feel-good photograph – makes us smile everytime we see it :)
As usual, all comments are welcome.
I’m just about to start working on a new area of the website which I’ve had an idea for for what seems like an eternity. Stay tuned! -Andy
Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Highgate House, Northampton, UK for the wedding of Andy & Vicki.
On Friday it was the turn of Andy & Vicki to ‘tie the knot’. Their wedding took place at Highgate House near Northampton in the stunning Baronial Hall; however, the registrar was completely against anything to do with cameras and we were only allowed to record one photograph of Vicki entering the ceremony room. The registrar later (thoughtfully?) created a ‘simulated’ signing of a ‘fake’ register (apparently for our benefit) so that we had at least two photographs to record what the day was actually about! Hmmm. Apparently, it’s the registrar’s day and not the happy couple’s.
Highgate House is actually a beautiful venue for a wedding and Vicki’s planning ensured that everything flowed perfectly. They enjoyed their day with a wonderfully friendly bunch of family & friends (including the ‘hockey girls!’) and it was pleasure to spend the day with them all.
We’re constantly trying to put a variety of shots on the blog so we don’t just pick out our absolute favourites – there are lots more to come. Here are a few from the day:
Lucy – a very elegant young bridesmaid – I don’t think we managed to take one bad photograph of her (no matter how hard we tried!)
The beautiful bride just before leaving home.
Very smart! The bar area offered us the opportunity to get some depth into the photographs.
A moment during the line-up.
Andy (2nd from right) with his bestman Tom (seated) and two ushers.
haha – love this. The party in full swing :)
That’s it for now – don’t forget to leave a comment or two for the happy couple! – Andy
