Wedding photographer: Holdenby House, Northamptonshire, UK: Tom & Katharine

August 9th, 3 comments

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Holdenby House, Northamptonshire, UK for the wedding of Tom & Katharine.

Tom & Katharine were married at Holdenby House on 25th July.  Tom was ‘best-man’ at a wedding we’d photographed previously (Andy & Vicki) and it was great to catch up with them both and with Vicki’s parents.  We’ve seen a lot of this particular group of family & friends over the last couple of years :)

The weather was perfect, allowing everyone to make the most of the beautiful surroundings. Let’s see some images:

Tom – not actually that long before the ceremony, but always relaxed.

Holdenby is one of those venues which would be great even on a wet day. Plenty of beautiful spaces with great light for us!

I’ve really enjoyed re-living the day looking back at the images whilst choosing some for the blog. It’ll be a really beautiful album! A big thanks to the staff at Holdenby, the caterers who looked after us so thoughtfully & to Peter who was Master of Ceremonies. (I’ll update this with everyones’ details later.)

Phil & Jen and a wedding in the garden!

July 2nd, 2 comments

Yup, you’ve read that right :) Jen has always dreamed of getting married in her parents’ back garden. With the legalities taken care of in a low-key way during the morning, Phil & Jen were free to concentrate on the real wedding that afternoon. Paul & Jackie handed over their house & garden to a variety of vendors who erected a marquee, cooked a delicious lamb & hog roast meal and set-up a bar. We’ve never photographed anything like this before and, although a challenge in some respects, it was fantastic fun. Let’s have a look at some of what we’ve taken:

A perfect example of just what you can achieve in a back garden. It really was beautifully done.

Phil – not quite ready but obviously very relaxed.

The lovely Jen! If getting married in your own home made every Bride as relaxed as Jen was, then we think everyone should do it.

The ladies. It was great to see so many familiar faces at this wedding – more of that at the end ;)

During the evening, a live band played and there was much dancing & partying not forgetting the unforgettable 1st dance (You had to be there!)

Earlier I mentioned how it was great to see so many familiar faces. The reason is that we photographed Jen’s sister Vicki & husband Andy’s wedding last year. Next year we’re photographing Andy’s Bestman when he ties the knot with Katharine & then a friend of Katharine’s (Helen) just a couple of weeks after that! I think we’re going to have to re-invent ourselves!

To finish, we really have to say a huge thanks to Paul & Jackie for looking after us on Saturday. We really appreciated the hospitality as well as Paul’s talents with a ‘grinder!!’ That’s a story for another post – stay tuned :) – Andy

Wedding photographer: Highgate House, Northampton, UK: Andy & Vicki

October 3rd, 9 comments

Andy & Amy were the wedding photographers at Highgate House, Northampton, UK for the wedding of Andy & Vicki.

On Friday it was the turn of Andy & Vicki to ‘tie the knot’. Their wedding took place at Highgate House near Northampton in the stunning Baronial Hall; however, the registrar was completely against anything to do with cameras and we were only allowed to record one photograph of Vicki entering the ceremony room. The registrar later (thoughtfully?) created a ‘simulated’ signing of a ‘fake’ register (apparently for our benefit) so that we had at least two photographs to record what the day was actually about! Hmmm. Apparently, it’s the registrar’s day and not the happy couple’s.

Highgate House is actually a beautiful venue for a wedding and Vicki’s planning ensured that everything flowed perfectly. They enjoyed their day with a wonderfully friendly bunch of family & friends (including the ‘hockey girls!’) and it was pleasure to spend the day with them all.

We’re constantly trying to put a variety of shots on the blog so we don’t just pick out our absolute favourites – there are lots more to come. Here are a few from the day:

Lucy – a very elegant young bridesmaid – I don’t think we managed to take one bad photograph of her (no matter how hard we tried!)
