Wedding Photographer: Chiesa del Carmine, Montone, Umbria: Paul & Jo

Amy was the wedding photographer at the Chiesa del Carmine, Montone, Umbria, Italy for Paul & Jo’s wedding.

So finally, after almost 10 years of living here in Umbria, I finally got to photograph a wedding in what I class as my ‘local’ town. Where we go several times a week and where we are considered ‘locals.’ Montone. This is the perfect, hill-top town and luckily for us, a hidden gem.

Paul and Jo were ridiculously laid-back and the perfect couple to have in front of my camera on this very special occasion. They even allowed my husband to video me photographing them (are you keeping up?!) allowing us this snippet on my new website. (NB. The video on the top banner will only work on a laptop / computer and not on a portable device.)

Before & after the ceremony, drinks and photographs in Montone, Chiesa del Carmine played host to the wedding party. A beautiful structure in a beautiful position in the heart of Umbria. Many thanks go to Chrissie and her team for doing an extraordinary job that day.

Wedding Photographer: Umbria: Nick & Becky

Amy was the wedding photographer in Umbria, Italy for Nick & Becky’s wedding.

I’m always trying to work close to home so this was a real stand-out wedding for me. Not only because you could almost pinpoint my house in the background of the group shots but also because the couple were fabulous and the day in general was absolutely AMAZING. Nick & Becky chose Becky’s Uncle’s house for their wedding which just so happens to have the most perfect little church just 100 metres or so away from it along a pretty little path. A local agriturismo just a couple of kms away was the perfect place for the reception meal – super-tasty, typical, Umbrian cuisine.

I am often asked to remember single stand-out moments from all of the weddings that I’ve photographed over the years (about 350 of them) and I always find it quite hard to do as there are just so many. However, I now always answer with a stand-out favourite moment from Nick & Becky’s wedding: when Philip Pope sang Nessun Dorma. The performance and the reaction of the crowd to the performance made every hair stand on end. It was magical.

I feel so privileged to have photographed this wedding. I loved getting to know Nick & Becky and we plan to meet up when they next come over. It was certainly a very, very special day. Thanks, Amy x

Wedding Photographer: Umbria, Italy – Assisi, Romantik Hotel Le Silve: Fabrizio & Cathleen

Amy was the wedding photographer at Romantik Hotel le Silve near Assisi in Umbria, Italy for Fabrizio & Cathleen’s wedding.

I LOVE photographing weddings in Umbria. Close to home and after-all, it is my favourite place in the world to be. Assisi is the most well-known town in Umbria which was the destination for the wedding of Fabrizio & Cathleen on one of the hottest days of the year (40 degrees plus.)

Fabrizio & Cathleen chose a beautiful location about 20 minutes from Assisi into the countryside to stay, get ready and then return to for their reception. The ceremony was in the centre of Assisi, in a church called Chiesa di Santa Margherita which has the most wonderful views of the world-famous Basilica of San Francesco d’Assisi.

On my way! Assisi is a beautiful and unique place to visit. I love it.

Wedding Photographer: Teatro Mancinelli, Orvieto: Craig & Kerin

Amy was the photographer at Teatro Mancinelli, Orvieto, Umbria, Italy for Craig & Kerin’s wedding.

I married Andy in Orvieto in 2007. Since then I have photographed several weddings in the Orvieto-area but have never had the opportunity to photograph a wedding in the town centre. Until now. Craig & Kerin also chose Orvieto for their magical wedding and can you believe it – the same lady that married them had married us 5 years earlier!

The couple’s 5 best friends were witness to this wonderfully intimate and romantic ceremony in the breath-taking Teatro Mancinelli. After the ceremony we had some time to take some photographs on the stage of the Theatre followed by a short walk to the Duomo (cathedral) which, I have to say, still knocks my socks off after going there for all these years.

Drinks at the bar followed by dinner at a beautifully-laid table on the main street of town made the day completely perfect. Craig & Kerin were so much fun to photograph, dancing in the streets and up for striking every pose in the book! What a fabulous day – I loved every single minute of it. Huge thanks to wedding planner Elia, a wonderful wedding planner in Tuscany / Umbria: Super Tuscan Wedding Planners who co-ordinated the wedding on the day. Take a peek:

Wedding Photographer: Cortona, Tuscany & Villa San Crispolto, Umbria: Tyrel & Laine

Amy was the wedding photographer in Cortona, Tuscany & Villa San Crispolto, Umbria for Tyrel & Laine’s wedding.

I was so excited to work so close to home and to meet Canadian couple Tyrel & Laine. And what a day it was! Villa San Crispolto sits up high over-looking Lake Trasimeno. A beautiful rural Villa with wonderful views, colourful gardens and a fabulous swimming pool! Both Tyrel and Laine got ready here and saw each other ready for the first time in the gardens – a beautiful moment.

We then made our way to Cortona, a gorgeous little Tuscan town made famous by the book and film ‘Under the Tuscan Sun.’ After the ceremony, the couple made an appearance on the balcony with their guests cheering and waving from below – very Royal! After photographs around Cortona we made our way back to Villa San Crispolto and enjoyed a wonderful meal, speeches, cake and dancing. Such a great day.

Take a look:
