Wedding Photographer: Il Chiostro del Carmine, Siena, Tuscany: Jamie & Sarah

May 10th, 2 comments

Amy was the photographer at Il Chiostro del Carmine, Siena, Tuscany, Italy for Jamie & Sarah’s wedding.

I spoke too soon! I thought I took the good weather with me but it seemed my luck ran out on Sunday in Siena. Threatening to pour down, the ceremony was moved indoors into a beautiful little chapel in hotel ‘Il Chiostro del Carmine’ – a hidden gem in central Siena.

After the ceremony and group shots under the cloisters we had a ‘should we or shouldn’t we’ moment as we decided whether or not to risk getting wet for some photographs in the main Piazza in Siena. ‘Go for it!’ was their decision. We walked down to the centre, photographing as we went and then bam! – the heavens opened. Jamie and Sarah were absolutely fantastic. Sarah whipped her shoes off and didn’t stop smiling as we made our way to the waiting taxi! I’m not sure how many other Brides would have been so upbeat and blasé about getting soaked to the skin in your wedding dress! Sarah – you were a star. Jamie, you looked after Sarah wonderfully and were both so much fun to photograph.

Poppy time of year – my favourite flower.

Personally, I think the location and lighting for the indoor ceremony beat where the outdoor ceremony would have been.

You were so FABULOUS. On my own wedding day, I said to David (our photographer) “just take beautiful pictures – I’m not bothered if my dress gets dirty!” I think you out-did me! Thank you so much for letting me be such a part of your day – I loved it :) -Amy x

Wedding Photographer: Montestigliano, Siena, Tuscany: Jon & Nancy

April 23rd, 2 comments

Amy was the photographer at Montestigliano, Siena, Tuscany, Italy for Jon & Nancy’s vow renewal ceremony.

In all of the years that I have been a wedding photographer, in Siena last week I was faced with a new challenge: not a wedding but a renewal of vows. Jon surprised his wife of 25 years, by organising one of the most romantic and intimate ceremonies I have had the pleasure of witnessing.

Montestigliano, a beautiful chapel on a hill played the perfect host for this wonderful event. Just Jon, Nancy and their 2 teenage daughters were present (along with brilliant Siena wedding planner Jackie.)

I met the family at the beautiful Grand Hotel Continental in central Siena. We had half an hour or so there before heading out into the countryside to Montestigliano. What a place! Great colours provided wonderful backdrops for my photographs and Jon & Nancy’s two daughters were beautiful models.

Take a peek:

Wedding Photographer: Florence: Shannon & Shirley

March 28th, 4 comments

Amy was the wedding photographer in Florence, Tuscany, Italy for Shannon & Shirley’s wedding.

From photographing people from Orlando in Positano to photographing people from Alabama in Florence. I was so excited to meet Bride Shirley as we chatted so much via email in the run-up to the wedding. She had only just submitted her booking contract when a huge tornado ripped through her backyard and took her fence, part of her roof and car along with it! Safe to say Shirley, Shannon and the other guests felt very blessed to have got to this day.

With temperatures way above average for March and the sky the bluest of blues, I started photographing Shirley and her friend Laura in a trendy salon. I soon left them to get on with it though and met Shannon and the rest of the guys, joining them on the short walk to the beautiful Sala Rossa and ceremony venue. This room is an old favourite of mine – I hope you’ll see why below.

The emotional ceremony was followed by a short photo shoot through the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio before we headed up to Piazzale Michelangelo and La Loggia Restaurant. If you’re not sure where I’m on about, when you Google Florence you’ll see lots of stunning shots ‘from above’ – well, it seems that way. Those shots are taken from this wonderful spot. Here, take a look:

Wedding Photographer: La Sorgente di Francesca, Tuscany: Mark & Olivia

September 29th, No comments

Amy was the wedding photographer at La Sorgente di Francesca, Tuscany for Mark & Olivia’s wedding.

A few years ago I photographed the wedding of Olivia’s cousin, Annabel. A kind recommendation meant that I was invited to photograph Mark & Olivia tie the knot in a very, very beautiful part of Tuscany. Ok, so it’s all pretty gorgeous, but the area to the north east of Florence is perhaps just a little more ‘untouched’ than other areas and La Sorgente di Francesca is a real find.

A traditional exterior and courtyard with stunning 360 degree forest views, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves was paralleled by a quite funky and light interior – quite unusual for a Tuscan Villa.

Mark & Olivia were chilled out beyond belief! Mark’s hearty laugh could be heard all day long whilst the prosecco flowed like water and the musicians played. Great atmosphere and good fun.

The wonderful interior at La Sorgente di Francesca.

Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

August 31st, 1 comment

Amy was the wedding photographer in Tuscany, Italy for Alex & Abbie’s wedding.

Sunday was such a special day for me. To see Tuscany at its very best and to have the honour of photographing a beautiful wedding was truly memorable. Alex & Abbie got married in the most stunning chapel I think I have ever photographed a wedding in but for various reasons, the location of it must remain a secret. If you are interested in getting married at this ‘moon on a stick’ location then there is only one way of going about it and that is to contact the wonderful Jacqueline Bradshaw from Marry Me in Tuscany.

After the ceremony and a light lunch we stopped off at Sant’Antimo Abbey. A stunning Abbey with an interesting history and certainly worth a visit if you are in the area. Then it was an hour or so in the cars to the south west of Tuscany to celebrate the wedding reception at the chic Conti di San Bonifacio. Jackie did such a wonderful job of making the table look amazing – the guests almost keeled over as they came round the corner to be met with the sight of where they were to sit and eat.

Just 12 guests made the day very personal, romantic and relaxed. I loved every minute of it. Now then, I bet you’re dying to have a look at some of the images:

The view from the kitchen window in the apartment that the bride and her Mum got ready in. Not bad hey.

So much beautiful detail to photograph.

Love this one.

Abbie and her Mum.

Alex and the guests arrived. Here he is with his Dad and Abbie’s Uncle, who had the very important role of giving Abbie away.

Just look at this incredible chapel. It was tiny and perfect.

wedding photographer tuscany 018 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Confetti shots are often some of my favourites from the day.

wedding photographer tuscany 019 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

More detail to capture so that it is never forgotten. Abbie’s Mum is underneath!

wedding photographer tuscany 020 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

May I introduce Gran. This gorgeous lady, the VIP of the guest list is 98 years old! She certainly seemed to have a fabulous time in Tuscany.

wedding photographer tuscany 021 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Ok, I’ll give you another little glimpse-ette of the chapel.

wedding photographer tuscany 022 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Light-lunch, Tuscan-style was served directly outside the chapel with a view of Tuscany that was to die for. Panzanella was served, one of my favourite dishes.

wedding photographer tuscany 023 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Role on a few hours and Alex & Abbie arrive at Conti di San Bonifacio ahead of the guests. Isn’t this beautiful?

wedding photographer tuscany 024 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Mwah!

wedding photographer tuscany 025 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

As the sun went down, I barely took my finger off the shutter release.

wedding photographer tuscany 026 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Jackie worked her magic. Simple and elegant as usual with a ‘wow’ overall effect.

wedding photographer tuscany 027 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Meanwhile, the guests enjoyed prosecco and an incredible cheese and prosciutto board.

wedding photographer tuscany 028 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Now you can see why the guests were bowled over by the beautiful table settings. Well done Jackie.

wedding photographer tuscany 029 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

More lovely detail.

wedding photographer tuscany 030 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

And so I left the party eating, drinking and laughing around the table – just how it should be.

wedding photographer tuscany 031 Wedding Photographer: Tuscany: Alex & Abbie

Great couple, great families, great friends and a great, great day that everyone involved will never forget. Thanks everyone. – Amy x
