Amy was the wedding photographer in Varenna, Bellagio & Veleso, Lake Como, Italy for Stevie & Rachel’s wedding.

The weather on the 1st of October was absolutely beautiful. Bright blue, not a cloud in the sky and almost as hot as a mid-summer’s day but without the bugs! I’m not sure that there is anywhere quite like Lake Como when the weather is perfect like that and the treat of going way up high above the Lake to a little place called Veleso was outstanding.

Rachel got ready in a lovely apartment directly opposite George Clooney’s house in Pognana Lario and then jumped on a boat for a half hour journey to Varenna for the ceremony. The Old Church of San Giorgio in Varenna is gorgeous and the religious ceremony provided the perfect contrast to the rest of the day which was relaxed and fun.

After the ceremony, Rachel, Stevie and I jumped back on the speed boat to get ahead of the guests so we could get some time for photographs in Bellagio. After that it was up the 4 mile windy, steep road to Veleso where the views across the mountains blew everyone away. Take a look:

Amy was the wedding photographer at the Church of St Abbondio in Mezzegra and Villa d’Este, Lake Como for Mark & Henrietta’s wedding.

When the sun is shining at Lake Como and the sky is deep blue, there is nowhere quite like it. Mark & Henrietta were so lucky with the fabulous weather. It was a perfect day in more ways than one however. I have photographed weddings at the Church of St Abbondio in Mezzegra before – what a setting! The church sits high above the Lake, the views are magnificent and the interior of the church isn’t bad neither! The 4 singers on the balcony that sang throughout the ceremony reminded me of the last 10 minutes of Sister Act. Hasten to add, I had a few ‘tingly’ moments.

About half an hour south along the Lake from Mezzegra sits Villa d’Este. Wow, Wow, Wow – there are no words to describe this place. Read about its history and impressive guests list but first, take a look at the images below:

Mark & Henrietta arrived at Villa d’Este by car whilst their guests enjoyed a boat ride past George’s place! This gave us some extra time to take some photographs of the couple in the beautiful gardens.

Amy was the wedding photographer at Villa Cipressi, Lake Como, Italy for David & Anna’s wedding.

One day to travel from Malcesine on Lake Garda to Tremezzo on Lake Como for wedding number 3 of the week. David & Anna’s wedding was at Villa Cipressi, Varenna which is on the opposite side of the Lake to Tremezzo. The ferries however are brilliant and reliable and so it was that we took the boat to work. Whilst the ferries on Lake Como are always reliable, the weather is not so. When it rains, boy-oh-boy, does it rain and the 7th of July turned out to be rather a wet & thundery day.

Villa Cipressi was as beautiful as I remembered it from Frank & Katherine’s wedding there back in 2009. Luckily the options for marrying and eating inside are as beautiful as the options outside. In fact, despite looking as though it might just tip-down for the entire day, it did brighten up for long enough for us to enjoy a boat ride across the Lake and a stop-off at the exquisite Villa Balbianello.

My very favourite ‘type’ of image. Look closely: a bridesmaid on the right is pouring champagne, another is spraying her hair. The Bride makes any final adjustments in the mirror whilst the flower-girl checks that her petals are correctly placed. A true moment in time.

Well, the heavens opened again as we arrived back at Villa Cipressi for dinner but wedding planner Jeremy from Affinita Weddings, did a grand job of making the room look beautiful (with a little help from the photographers!) Thanks to Jeremy for being great on the day, to David & Anna for being so easy to photograph and a special mention to Roger, Anna’s Dad, who helped the day run so smoothly and for making sure that we were so well looked-after. Amy was the wedding photographer in Bellagio, Lake Como, Italy at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni for Rob & Jessica’s wedding.

Bellagio, Lake Como: as many of you bLOG followers will know, one of my favourite places on the planet to be. The wedding of Rob & Jessica took place at the Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni. There’s only really one way of describing this Villa and that’s to say, it’s ‘breath-taking.’ Its position on the lake is the best and the rich interior is pure elegance.

A story of true love, English-born Rob has left his family and friends behind in the UK to make a new life in Chicago, to be with his gorgeous new wife, Jessica. With half of the party travelling from the UK and the other half from America, everyone was up for having a wonderful Italian escape, making sure that the atmosphere on the day was upbeat and fun.

Amy was the wedding photographer at Villa del Balbianello & Lido di Lenno, Lake Como, Italy for the wedding of Karl & Sarah-Louise.

I am so, so lucky to visit the beautiful places that wedding photography takes me to and to be witness to some of the most magical, romantic moments in some of the most magical, romantic settings on earth. It’s almost impossible to choose my favourite venue given that a Castle in Tuscany differs so much from a Villa on the Amalfi Coast, a top Hotel in Rome and the stunning gardens alongside the Italian Lakes. However, if I was forced to choose my favourite wedding venue then this would be it: Villa del Balbianello, Lenno, Lake Como.

Karl & Sarah-Louise married underneath the stunning ivy-covered loggia on the 9th of September. Since Villa del Balbianello is on a peninsula, we accessed it by boat and it offers all-round views up and down Lake Como. Each blade of grass looks like it has been cut individually with a pair of scissors and the Villa itself is nothing short of breath-taking.

After the ceremony at Villa del Balbianello we had a fun boat-ride around the ‘corner’ to the Lido di Lenno: a funky, little Moroccan-style bar with its own beach and marquee.

Sarah-Louise got ready at The Grand Hotel Brittania Excelsior in Cadenabbia. Having just her Mum & Dad there made for a very relaxed pre-ceremony time:

Confetti – not just ordinary confetti however! Sarah-Louise’s mum had saved this from her own wedding 30-odd years ago. She’d decided back then that if she ever had a daughter, she would throw this confetti for her on her own wedding day! Here we go:

I was so pleased that the weather behaved after such a couple of stormy days prior to the wedding. As always I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Lake and can’t wait to start processing the rest of the images.
